Bo’Marie is a Chicago-based actress, writer, and comedian. After attaining her BA in Theatre from Texas Wesleyan University, she immediately began classes at Dallas Comedy House, where she would later become a regular performer and Teacher’s Assistant. Trained in improv, stand up, and sketch, Bo’Marie is proud to be a member of North Texas’ only all Black sketch group, “FCC Presents”. As a pansexual Black woman, Bo’Marie works to address the complexities of intersectionality in her work and day-to-day life. When she is not in therapy, “Bo” enjoys eating collard greens with cornbread, moisturizing her skin, and minding her blackass business. Bo’Marie is currently working on her MFA in Screenwriting with a comedy concentration at DePaul University in partnership with The Second City in Chicago, IL. As a screenwriter, her storytelling is inspired by Afro-surrealism, a form of artistic work that centers the Black cultural aesthetic with the purpose of liberating the people and expanding the understanding of how Black individuals exist. Her comedic tone highlights the Black experience, celebrates intersectionality, and shared community. Her work highlights shared Black themes while serving as a reminder that Black existence is not monolothic.
